How to Care for your Faux Flowers
One of the many great things about faux flowers is just how low-maintenance and long-lasting they are… which is a blessing amidst the busyness of our modern lives! With the right care, a beautiful bouquet of artificial flowers can last for years, if not decades. So, here we’ve compiled a few simple steps you can take to ensure the long-lasting loveliness of your faux arrangement.
1. Don’t forget to dust!
Due to the long-lasting nature of faux flowers, it’s inevitable that dust will settle on the stems eventually (but way less frequently than you might think!). So within your usual cleaning routine, be sure to give your flowers a quick brush over. For lighter dust build ups, you can simply use a microfiber cleaning cloth or feather duster. And if you’re struggling with more stubborn build ups or dust between the finer petals, apply your hair dryer on its coolest setting – it’ll work wonders!
2. Simply does it with soap and water
If your faux flowers are particularly dirty, you can clean them with soap and water. Mix some mild soap in a bowl of water and dip a soft cloth in the solution. Gently wipe the flowers and leaves with the cloth, making sure not to scrub too hard or damage the petals.
3. Stay away from direct sunlight
Try and position your faux bouquet away from direct sunlight. This way, you’ll avoid any fading and discolouration. It’s also a good idea to move your faux flowers regularly, so that if there does happen to be a bit of fading, it won’t be concentrated to one area of the arrangement alone.
4. Avoid chemical sprays
When looking for cleaning products for your artificial flowers, you might come across chemical sprays and cleaners. We’d recommend avoiding these as it could damage or discolour the petals, and instead stick to natural treatments.
5. Store away when not on display
When not in use, it's important to store your faux flowers properly to prevent them from getting damaged. You can use the box that they arrive in, or a container with a lid to store them. Make sure to place some tissue paper or bubble wrap around the flowers to prevent them from rubbing against each other and getting tangled.
... And that's it! With these simple tips, you can keep your faux flowers looking beautiful and fresh for years to come. So, go ahead and add some colour and life to your home or office with some stunning faux flower arrangements!
